What is a Filament Painting?

A filament painting (also called a Hueforge) is artwork made on a 3D printer instead of with paint or ink.

Think of it like a topographic map, where the picture is built up in layers. Each color is printed at a different height, so the image has real depth and texture you can see and feel. Lighter areas sit higher, darker areas sit lower, and together they create shading and detail.

It’s not a flat print or poster. When light hits it, the layers catch shadows and highlights, which makes the image change slightly depending on how you look at it.
